J. B. Small has spent his life as a woodworker, painter, and artist. He specializes in original design, restoration, and outsider painting.

Working in Pennsylvania-style, focusing on 18th-century provincial furniture, he bench-makes authentic reproductions, restores antiques, and works toward the present through the productions of Wilhelm Schimmel-style folk-carvings, Wharton Esherick-style stools,  George Nakashima-style tables, and Calder-style mobiles, always with the added twist of Small-style interpretation.
